Problem:   How to get everyone on board with a political message, fast
I was asked by the Obama campaign to head outreach to the Irish American community in New England. By coincidence, a group of Irish Americans, and myself, met with, by then, VP candidate Joe Biden. We discussed messaging and he volunteered that he needed a message to sell Irish Americans on Obama. We responded that we would have one before the day was out, and we did. We created one in an hour that positioned Obama as the only candidate that addressed the six key cultural and generational concerns of Irish Americans, and what they were. It worked so well that the Obama campaign in New Hampshire asked me to meet with very sophisticated, and experienced, groups representing the Greek, French, and Latino communities to help them develop similar outreach messages. Of note, the resulting messages were very similar to the Irish American message yet had some key differences of great importance to their respective communities. This was all accomplished in half a day, and they were using them that weekend on canvassing calls. This was, particularly, important because New Hampshire was a swing state. Getting knowledgeable, and often, opinionated, people on board with message that they created, fast, is key to winning any race, or competition. Only the Main Message process can do this.
