Problem:  To quickly create a main message for a special election
Linda Dorcena Forry ran for the Massachusetts House from the 12th Suffolk District in Boston, in a special election. It was her first race. She had barely announced her candidacy when she was being pressured to sign onto special interest positions that were not those of the people of her District, irrespective of how she might have felt about them, personally. However, she, and her key advisors, created a message for the District with MainMessage which was designed to address the real concerns of the District. Linda focused on the concerns of the voters of her District, and stayed on message. She easily won the special election while running against six other candidates. One reason is that she was the only one that had a main message. When she ran for re-election this past November she had no opponent.

"At a critical point in our campaign’s infancy, John Cullinane helped me and my key advisors focus our goals and ideas into a message that really resonated with voters. It was not contrived or pre-packaged in any way. These ideas belonged to us. But, John helped us to vision what was possible in our race and how to best communicate those priorities to voters in a succinct way. We dubbed the platform we created a "New Partnership for the 12th Suffolk District." It proved to be a solid foundation for a very competitive campaign and it has been a critical guide for my work on behalf of my constituents. I would highly recommend that any candidate, whether new to politics or a seasoned veteran, follow John's process."
